Balram Prashad

Balram “Basil” Prashad was born in Bush Lot Village, West Coast Berbice, Guyana on September 6th, 1935. He was the son of the late Latchme & Rajmonie Prashad; and brother of the late Hanoman Persaud, the late Walter Persaud, the late Dan Persaud, the late Paul Persaud, Betty Seepersaud, the late Charlie Persaud, the late Shiela Kadaru, the late Golin Persaud.

He was known to be a hard-working, humble man - a rice farmer and paperman in Guyana, and a security officer in New York until his retirement. He spent many years of his life surrounded by family in Guyana, New York, Virginia, and Florida, where he passed away on Saturday, July 16th, 2022.

Balram was married to his beloved wife, the late Sabitri Prashad, for 61 years. He is survived by his 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren:

Children (in-law): Vidya Persaud (Angela Persaud), Nalini Jagnarain (Mangar Jagnarain), Rita Masihdas (Ken Masihdas), Joe Persaud (the late Rajee Persaud), Satto Persaud (Nellie Persaud), Rajesh Persaud (Adella Persaud).

Grandchildren: Maurita Hernandez, Annette Marcelo, Stephanie Shkoler, Andrew Jagnarain, Rosemary Khan, Junior Persaud, Amanda Leday, Kevin Persaud, Jeffrey Persaud, Cindy Persaud, Nadia Persaud, Tyler Persaud, Ariel Persaud, Tamia Persaud, Casandra Persaud.

Great Grandchildren: Anjali Shkoler, Sahana Hernandez, Jacob Shkoler, Sawyer Hernandez, Sahan Leday.

Services have been entrusted to Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 9:00 am- 12:00 pm.
