

Bernard L. Perry, born on June 18, 1951 in Beloit, Wisconsin, a beloved member of the Zellwood, Florida community, passed away on May 2, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital in Edgewood, Florida. He was 71 years old. Bernard was the son of Ozie B. Perry and Bertha M. Perry. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and went on to complete two years of college at the University of Wisconsin Madison Campus where he studied to become a nurse. He then moved to Hayward, California with his family and became a realtor.
Bernard became a member of Community Baptist Church at an early age. He sang in their youth choir. In addition, he and his siblings sang in a gospel group “The Harmony Four”, they were members of the (Beloit Singing Convention) in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Bernard was a dedicated “Master Tutor” in math and english at Madison Area Technical College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the drums for local bands in Beloit and Orlando. In his free time, he loved listening to r&b music, dancing, traveling and taking cruises to the West Indies and Central America.
Bernard is survived by his children: Derek L. Grady of Janesville, WI, Damian B. Perry of Chicago, Ill and Avery M. Perry of Madison, WI. He is also survived by his sister’s Mary E. Anderson of Hayward, CA, Gertrude Williams of Milwaukee, WI, Berthina (Glenn) Ray of Milwaukee, WI, Francina (Walter) Jaeger of Madison, WI and Brenda (Kevin) Murray of Beloit, WI. Rosetta Sykes of Orlando, Fl, was his long-time friend and companion they loved one another deeply. Additionally, Bernard leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and great nieces, nephews and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ozie B. Perry and Bertha M. Perry, as well as his brother’s Pete Perry, Robert Perry, and Willie "Swoop" Perry, great nephew Idress Razaa, great nieces Malika Joseph and Alyna Grace Joseph and his paternal aunt, Aunt Henrietta Perry.
Bernard is loved and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He had his serious moments and his unique sense of humor and infectious laugh could light up a room.
