Billie Sue Furnas was born in Joliet, Illinois on March 26, 1951. She passed away at age 69 in her home on October 6, 2020.
Billie graduated from Highland High School, in the town of Highland, Indiana where she grew up. She received her bachelors degree from Nova University in Florida.
She was married to Joyce King on September 25, 2008, her partner of 37 years.
Billie was employed by AT&T for 29 years as a finance manager. After retiring she filled her time as a volunteer, score keeping at many local golf tournaments. She was asked to be in charge of the scoring for the Bay Hill Golf Tournament, which is now known as the Arnold Palmer Golf Tournament. The Arnold Palmer Tournament named Billie Volunteer of the Year in 2017. It was the 29th year she had been in charge of scoring for the tournament.
Billie and Joyce traveled all over the world together. They visited many countries collecting small treasures to bring to friends and family. Their home contains mementos from around the globe. Billie also enjoyed photography. She shared the photos and stories that made them come to life. Favorite photos adorn their home.
Billie is survived by three sisters, Debra Stecklein, Becky Bond and Alice Stillabower, two nieces, six nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life, with a Miller Lite toast, will be held at 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. Please join us for the celebration. In lieu of flowers make a charitable donation to the charity of your choice, the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
