Bob served his country proudly entering into the United States Navy right after his graduation from High School. He remained in the active military for 30 years, retiring at the rank of Master Chief Boatswain's Mate in 1978. He loved his service in the military and continued to support his country after retirement; proof of this was the American Flag that was always flying high at his home. After his retirement from the Navy, he became a Service Manager for Palm Harbor Homes in Plant City and eventually transitioned to security at Sea World of Orlando where he retired to spend time with his beautiful bride Mary.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on many of the local teams. He was a faithful and devoted fan of the Orlando Magic, UCF Knights and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He loved to travel to the mountains and beaches, spending nearly every year in Ocean Isle South Carolina. He also ensured that one vacation a year was enjoyed playing the slots at a nearby casino. Bob and his wife Mary of 65 years enjoyed life together 'til the end; and, built a beautiful family together who misses him very much. He loved his family, and his grandchildren brought him so much joy.
He was preceded in death by his sister Luan Brown and son Greg Oliphant.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his children Eric Oliphant, Cathleen Oliphant(Dawn Sylvester) and Patricia (Rich) Coulter. His grandchildren Ashley (Felix) Hamm, Landon (Alexis) Oliphant and Jacob Oliphant, and Great Grandchildren, Phoenix Hamm, Gianna Hamm, Presley Hamm and Kennedy Oliphant.
