Carolyn Ruth Flanagan

Carolyn Flanagan, 92, of Belle Isle, FL, passed away on October 10, 2023. She was born in Greenfield, Indiana on July 12, 1931. She was married to Dr. James Flanagan in 1955 who passed away in 1981. After graduating from UNC with a degree in education, Carolyn taught elementary school from 1955-1965 when her daughter, Nancy started first grade. After this time, she kept busy with their two children, Nancy and Jimmy as well as helping at her husband, Jim’s, Veterinarian Clinic. She also taught many students to play the piano. She was a devout Christian and taught a Bible Study across the street from her home called Tuesdays at Ten. Carolyn touched many lives in many positive ways and will always be remembered for her kindness, caring spirit, and compassion for others.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Chuck Heltsley, granddaughter, Jamie Heltsley, brother, Ralph Blanchard, daughter-in-law and her husband, Betty and Gary Bennett, and grandsons Daniel and Joseph Bennett.

Celebration of eternal life will be held on November 2, at 2:00pm at Marie Williams Chapel on the campus of the First Baptist Church off of McLeod Rd. Orlando, located behind Faith Hall. Reception will follow immediately on the 3rd floor of Faith Hall.
