

Charles Otto Gannett Jr. was born on January 20, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. He lived with his mother and father on their farm. He completed the eighth grade, and won an essay contest that awarded him a trip to Washington, D.C. He moved with his family to Imaly City in 1942, where he continued to work on the family farm. He married the love of his life, Dorothy McKillen, in 1948, and they would be married for 60 years before her passing. Charles was father to two children, Patty and Michael. He worked as a custodian at the local school in Imaly City and also at a drill factory for a few years. In 1987, he moved to Orlando, Florida and worked with his son and daughter-in-law, Anita's, business, Heaven Sent Janitorial . He has four grandchildren, Mitch, Beth, Nicole and Michael, and five great-grandchildren Grace, Grant, Josie, Sawyer and Elizabeth. Charlie enjoyed singing, fishing, car racing, and any activity with family. He loved a cup of hot coffee and a plate of good food. Charles was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. His sunny disposition, care and concern for everyone he met, intelligence and humor made him a pleasure to know. His smile lit up rooms. Charlie loved life; he found beauty in every day. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
