

He was born March 7, 1925 Center Square, NJ the son of Charles Davis West and Hannah M. West (nee Drummond). He was preceded in death by his loving wife Frances M West(nee Fell), brothers William (Bill) K , John (Dead bird) H , Winfield Curtis (Curt) , sister Alice M West Blackburn McKeithan and
daughter-in-law Honey (Sue) West.
He is survived by children Robert (Bob) of The Villages, FL, Barbara Coleman (Paul)Winter Garden, FL, Jackie McAllister (Richard) of Pennsville, NJ, Elaine Grimes (Randy) of Davenport, FL, Charles (Poncho) (Marji) of Carneys Point, NJ , JoAnn Tracy (Joe) of Branson, MO, Janice West-Belhadi (Aziz) of Davenport, FL, His sister- in- law Phyllis West of Sun City West, AZ. 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Si attended Penns Grove High School (1940-1943) receiving 3 varsity letters in Baseball, Football and Basketball his freshman, sophomore and junior years. He left high School before his senior year when drafted into the US Navy. He proudly served on the USS Vessel (only male ship in the fleet). After receiving an Honoree Discharge he returned to and took a job at E.I. Dupont Plant 1in Carney’s Point, N.J. In 1945 he married the love of his life Fanny Fell and started their family.
In 1981retired and moved to Windermere, FL where he held several jobs as a Security Guard at Isle worth and the Orange County Convention Center.
Si was an avid ball player playing in the Salem County League for the Mayflower and the Pedricktown Peds (later becoming their manager) In 1949 he won the batting championship with .4776 batting average, played in 18 game, went t o the plate 67 times and poked out 32 hits. He also was the All Around long ball hitter. His specialty was 3 baser in which he led the parade with six. In addition he swatted out 4 doubles and 2 homeruns for a total of 22 extra bases for the season. He loved this game.
He enjoyed bowling and was on several leagues over his lifetime.
He was a proud member of the Elks, VFW, American Legion and Moose.
Si was an avid golfer and held memberships at the Sakima Country Club in Carney’s Point, N.J. and the West Orange Country Club in Winter Garden FL. which on November 6th, 1996 he had a hole in one on the 8th hole with a distance of 151 yards. He enjoyed spending time at the club playing cards with his friends at the clubhouse.
He was a season ticket holder and avid Philadelphia Eagles fans and enjoyed taking the Wilson Line to the numerous stadiums they called home. He was a Phillies fan with Jimmy Foxx as his favorite. When the Phillies joined the national league he turned to the Braves.
He and Fran enjoyed traveling visiting their family and friends across the US. They enjoyed trips to Biloxi. He enjoyed the times that his family would take him to the casinos, his favorite game the Triple slot machine. He loved his bingo scratch off tickets and was called Mr. Bingo at several stores in town.
Last but not least, for those who pulled his ear got a surprise.
He will be truly missed by all and will not be forgotten. As we celebrate his life.
