David Eugene Kitchens

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, our Lord and Savior welcomed David Eugene Kitchens home to Heaven. David was born in Ocoee, Florida but lived in Kissimmee, Florida the past 55 years. He was an adoring husband, loving father and loyal friend who had influenced so many lives throughout his 86 years.

As a teenager, David, who went by “Bud”, began his career as an Iron Worker in the fall of 1957 until his retirement. He became a prominent member within the Iron Worker Local 808 impacting many lives. Throughout his life, David enjoyed many hobbies such as Kung Fu, learning to fly, hunting, fishing and golfing. First and foremost, he was a fierce and dedicated protector of his family and a steadfast ally for his friends.

A widower for the past 5 years, he was married to the unequivocal love of his life, Betty Kitchens, née Russell, for 54 and a half years. He is also preceded in death by his son Billy Joe Kitchens. David is survived by his two daughters Karen Lynn Kitchens (Babcock) and Katherine Anne Kitchens as well as his son-in-law Fred Babcock. The family is filled with gratitude to our Lord in blessing our lives for a multitude of decades with such an indelible human being.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. in the Groves Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Parks and Funeral Home located at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734. Interment will follow immediately after the service.
