Donald Steven White, 78, of Bennington VT, passed away on October 28th 2024. Born in Amityville, NY, he often joked that he was the “Amityville Horror.” But nothing could be farther from the truth. Mr. White dedicated his life to the service of his country, first in the United States Airforce, then working on defense projects in the Aerospace Division at Martin Marietta. During his time there, he was named to the Top 100 Employees and awarded for his innovations leading to efficiency and cost reduction. Later in life, Don’s career focused on bettering the lives of Veterans as he worked for the State of Vermont in their service.
Only one thing superseded his dedication to his country – and that is his family. He will be remembered singing beautiful tunes, entertaining with piano and trumpet play and cracking hilariously repetitive dad jokes by his loving and devoted children, Charles White and his wife Deanna, Leanne Douglass and her husband Michael, Michelle Lindsey and her husband Thomas, and Donna Walden and her husband Joseph.
His love, jovial nature and frustratingly unbeatable expertise at card games will be fondly thought of by his grandchildren, Jordan Douglass, Elisabeth White, Cara White, EmilyAnn Russell, Natalie Lindsey, Courtney White, Nolan Douglass, Dillan Walden, Jacob Walden and Wyatt Walden.
We are excited that he will be reunited with his mother, June E. White, father, Warren E. White and his brother Robert C. White who preceded him home.
The family will be holding a private celebration, but welcome loving words or memories shared about their father at www.woodlawnfuneralhomegotha.com
