Born June 7, 1924 in Quincy, Florida, Dorothy grew up in rural Gadsden County and attended Quincy High School. It was at QHS that she met het life mate, C.V. Pinson, a relationship interrupted by C.V.’s four years of service with the US Marine Corp in World War II and re-ignited when he safely returned.
A beautiful 42 year marriage produced 3 children, Pam, Vince, and Patricia who would become the focus of Dorothy’s life. The birth of a granddaughter (Kara) to Vince was the source of much joy for Dorothy and C.V.
Dorothy’s life was rocked in November of 1989 with the sudden death of C.V. After an extended period of mourning, she made the decision to embark on a new chapter of life that for 27 years would include traveling around the country and world, snowmobiling and family Christmas trips, and working 11 summers in Yellowstone National Park.
It was the call of the animals, geysers, mud pots, and waterfalls of Yellowstone that would highlight the last 20 years of her life.
Dorothy was country strong, loved God, her family and especially God’s gift of every new day of life. Her drive, adventuresome spirit and incredible love for God, family and others are an example for all whose lives she touched.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, daughter in law Kristi, granddaughter Kara, sister in law Eugenia, niece Beth and nephew Richard.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged in Dorothy’s honor to the "Yellowstone Forever Organization."
