

Lieutenant Colonel Edward Alexander Beaton, U.S. Army (Retired), 75, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. He was a loving, kind, and generous husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Diamond) Beaton; his daughters, Cheryl Dehle, Deanne Gaydos, Deborah Maher, and Karin Beaton; his grandchildren, Will, Robby, Kylie, Kira, Katelyn, Ryan, Alex, Andrew, and Catherine; his sister, Kathleen (Beaton) Parker and brother, Richard Joseph Beaton, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Shirley (Beaton) Paine.
Ed was born on January 1, 1942 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Alexander and Mary Catherine Beaton. He graduated from Saugus High School in 1959 and then attended Northeastern University, graduating with a degree in Business. He married Dorothy Diamond, his high school sweetheart, in 1962. After graduating college, he began his career in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, and many locations across the United States. Ed earned his master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology in 1978. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 21 years, and began his career with Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida.
Ed was passionate about sports, particularly the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was an active and dedicated member of St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church and often volunteered as a lector.
A viewing will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida on Friday, May 5th from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 6th at 2pm at St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church, 5555 Dr. Phillips Blvd., Orlando, FL 32819, followed by the burial service at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
