Edythe Wishnow was a family person. She always loved having family gatherings whether at her home or someone else's home. Family was always #1 to her. My mom loved to travel as she once traveled to Europe with her sister Min Lundy, then traveled many places with her husband Stanley. They went to Bermuda, Hawaii where she learned to do the Hula and enjoyed her first and only pig roast. After Edythe retired, she and her husband Stanley started going on cruises. In 1993 they went on the infamous Alaskan Cruise where they enjoyed learning the Alaskan Culture. Then they went on cruises to the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands. Edythe was a long-time member of the American Medical Cancer of Denver, where she was very active in raising money for the cause. Edythe was always involved in her community trying to help when and where she could, as she also contributed to helping Stanley who was very active with the Beth Shalom Men's Club and also the Kingsridge Home association in Clermont. She loved sewing and crocheting. Her sister Min Lundy and Edythe made many afghans for everyone in the family. Then Edye also taught her niece Eileen Sidlow to crochet as well. Edye loved to cook and bake. Every time we had a family get together Edye, Min and Eileen were always the ones to create the menu, cook and bake. Every time we got together at our house people would always say, "Aunt Edye make sure you have your delicious Kugel, and apple cake for us." Growing up in Wilmington, DE, Edythe who was the daughter of Tillie and Louis Shapiro worked in her parent's delicatessen. She met Stanley Wishnow and married on November 16, 1952. Her niece Eileen, Lundy, Sidlow was the flower girl and Michael Lundy was the ring bearer. On July 18, 1954, her oldest son Jay Keith was born. Two years later her youngest or as she referred to me as "her Baby" Richard Wayne was born. Living in Claymont Delaware from 1960 till 2000, Edythe always enjoyed the snow in the early years then as time went on it was time to leave the coldness of the northern states. Edythe worked for the Internal Revenue of Delaware as a secretary to the Delaware director for thirty years before retiring and moving to Florida. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends once a week. Although Edythe would refer to her husband Stanley as "Her Hero," she was also very independent in her own way. Many times, when my Dad would be working late she would take my brother Jay and I out to dinner as she used to like going to Howard Johnsons for fried seafood. Also, many times my mom would drive out on her own just to explore areas around Delaware and Pennsylvania that she had not been to yet. Edye and Stan loved to dance. They always went out for New Years with their friends and many times my father and mother were the first on the floor. Edythe Loved her family tremendously and always put them #1 ahead of everything else. My mom always believed in her family that they could do whatever they put their minds to. Every time, I would tell her, "Well I'm not sure I can do this," she never took that for an answer. She always told me "yes You Can, I know you can do that." So, I took a deep breath and said OK and did it anyway, lol. Edythe's family has decreased in the years but many, many huge memories remain.
Edythe is survived by her oldest son Jay Wishnow, Richard Wishnow, her granddaughter Erica Wishnow, nephew Michael Lundy, and her Great Nieces and their families: Sharon Lundy Baartmans, Lisa Lundy Rieger, Dr. Tammy Bady Kushner, and Elizabeth Bady Ward.
