She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 8, 1928 to the late Gaetano & Josephine (Scaccia) Iapicca.
Eleanor captivated audiences everywhere with both her dancing and her spirit when she walked into a room.
The late Valentino Caruso, in the spotlight though he was himself, could not help but be drawn to Eleanor when he first saw her walk into the club where he led the band. They married and led a joyful life together!
Eleanor’s family and friends grew to join her in her dancing, and she came to lead a team of belly dancers and sword performers in numerous venues, highlighting the beloved Olympia Restaurant. Not only did they dazzle patrons with their rich & delightful show, but with the costumes they all wore, created intricately & masterfully by Eleanor herself~ In her day, she created fashion “samples”, in that she worked before the pattern, whipping up something from nothing…always beautiful, always superior.
Eleanor’s beauty, inside and out, lives on in the hearts of her adoring family. They already miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, first husband and dear sister, Anna.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Posey; devoted children, Regis Caruso (Susan), Valerie Meloney (David), Gregory Caruso (Susan) and David Caruso (Penny); her siblings, Robert Iapicca, Mary Veneziano and Elaine Mann (Newton); seven adored grandchildren & 8 precious great grandchildren.
