On Friday, October 7, 2022, Eleanor A. Mosler passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Eleanor was born on February 16,1929 in Union City, New Jersey to first generation Italian immigrant parents Yolanda and Anthony Gullace. After graduating high school, Eleanor moved to Florida where she met her husband, John Mosler, who she bonded with over a shared love of music and dance. Eleanor was married to John Mosler at Saint James Catholic Church near Orlando, Florida, and remained married until John’s death in 1993. They raised their three children, Michael, Barbara, and Pamela, in Longwood, Florida, with a brief stint in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Eleanor was an original Epcot employee, opening up with the company in 1982, where she worked in the Italian pavilion as a merchandise and wine sales associate for 38 years before retiring in March 2021. She had a lifelong second act as a surrogate grandma (nicknamed ‘Mama Italia’) to the international students who came to work with her, and was often visited by guests who would return to see one of Epcot’s most talked about legends! Some of her proudest moments as a cast member were the rewards she would receive, and the blue legacy pin, one of the highest honors, was indeed an achievement.
Outside of the joy Eleanor found in her work and community at Epcot, she was very passionate about travel, reading and learning, spending time with family and friends, and cooking magnificent Italian dishes for anyone who would say yes! Eleanor also attended church faithfully for her entire life. She was a fiercely independent and active four time cancer survivor who never seemed sick or complained about her numerous health issues while living independently for the last 30 years of her life. She will be remembered for her enormous strength and grit, unwavering work ethic, and unfiltered sense of humor. Rumor has it Eleanor waved herself on by Peter at the gates and looked over to God and said, “you finally got me here, now what?!”
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Yolanda and Anthony Gullace, husband John Mosler, her daughter Deborah A. Mosler, siblings Ida Roman, Jean Darcel, and Frank Gullace, grandson Michael H. Mosler II, and great grandson Liam J. Mosler. She is survived by her son Michael H. Mosler and his wife Christian A. Mosler, her daughters Barbara A. McKechnie and Pamela M. Bussen and husband Scott Bussen, her grandchildren Bryn M. Mosler, Blaise C. Mosler, Shane P. Mosler and his wife Sara, Caroline W. McKechnie, Colin F. McKechnie and Harvi F. Bussen, and great grandchildren Bowen G., Stella H. and Michael H. Mosler III.
A private family ceremony will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha, FL. In lieu of flowers you can make a charitable donation to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital in Eleanor’s name.
A memorial will be held at a future date to be determined.
