

Evelyn A Barrowman joined the Lord’s choir on July 29, 2012. Evelyn was born to the late Walter Sechrest and Grace Gravat Sechrest on December 27, 1931 in Danville, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 47 years, George “Joe” Barrowman. Survivors include her beloved children, Michael (Cynthia) Barrowman, Susie (Corky) Butram and, David (Doreen) Barrowman, 10 grandchildren: Amy, Jason, Jay, Eric, Shannon, Brian, Christine, Tia, Allison, and Joseph and 11 great-children and her brother Thomas Sechrest.
She was a retired registered nurse working as the supervising nurse for the City of Orlando’s Occupational Health Department.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years where she loved singing in the choir, working with Vacation Bible School, and was instrumental in the success of the Helping Hands program that helped feed the homeless at the Orlando Rescue Mission at least once a month. Upon the closing of GUMC, she became a member of First United Methodist Church of Pine Hills where she continued to serve the Lord in the choir and homeless program as well as VBS, fund raising dinners, and garage sales.
The last 6 years she lead a group of women in the Church in serving the community by sewing memory bears for the families of Vitas Hospice, Winter Park. She sewed nearly 200 bears for families from clothing of their late loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Vitas Hospice or the Evelyn A Barrowman Memorial Fund at FUMC-Pine Hills to help continue serving her beloved projects.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Monday August, 6 2012 from 5-8pm at Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home, Gotha. Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church at 1pm on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 followed by internment at Woodlawn.
