Francesca "Frances" Triozzi, age 94, of Ocala, Florida, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was born in Belleville, New Jersey on January 14, 1930 and is the daughter of Antonino Bruno and Maria Saporita Bruno both of whom immigrated from San Filippo, Messina, Sicily. When she was two years old, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. She had five brothers and two sisters, all of whom helped on the family farm. But, they also had time to be children; running, playing, climbing (and once each took a turn letting the air out of the tires on their father's car just because they liked to hear the "sssss" sound; he was not as amused as were his children).
She attended Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida and went on to the Stenotype Institute to improve her secretarial skills. She worked for the Corps of Engineers as a secretary until she married.
She met the love of her life, Roland Triozzi, at the home of a mutual friend, Lucy Giardino. They were married on February 27, 1955 in Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. And their friend, Lucy, took every opportunity to tell any and all that SHE was the one to introduce them. Roland and Frances went on to have three children - Lorraine (Sandeen), Eugene, and Anthony. They were a happy family whose parents enjoyed spending time with their children: drive-in movies on Friday nights, Sunday afternoons at the beach (but ONLY after early morning Mass), impromptu basketball games in the driveway with the net that Roland set up on the front of the garage (at "regulation height"), throwing boomerangs in the field behind the house, and badminton games over the front yard gate because it was a pain to try to set up a flimsy net (and Frances was always the prize badminton player). Even washing the car was fun when all the family was involved - wet, but fun.
While she claimed to hate cooking, she was always cooking something. Her lasagna was second to none and was served every Thanksgiving, Christmas, and at family get-togethers (including for the wedding reception of her son, Tony). And, every Christmas, she would bake hundreds of Italian Wedding Cookies to bring to all her family and friends. This was an endeavor that took days of baking and filled the entire dining room table. And, every Christmas, the whole family waited excitedly to receive their cookies - the Girl Scouts got nothing on Frances!!
She was a huge sports fan, especially devoted to the Florida Gators and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Whenever either team was playing, you could expect the television to be tuned to that channel and Frances to be watching (she even had a tv in her kitchen so she could see the game when she was cooking). And, if her team was losing, it was advisable to realize that the umpires/referees were always biased against her team!!
She was predeceased by her husband, Rolando Triozzi; her parents, Antonino Bruno & Maria Saporita Bruno; and all of her siblings, Frank Bruno, Angelo Bruno, Steve Bruno, Mary DePratter, Salvatore "Sam" Bruno, Angelina Ricketson, & Rosario "Russell" Bruno
She leaves behind her children; Lorraine Sandeen (Terry), Eugene Triozzi (Debbie Reddish), and Anthony Triozzi (Lara); her grandchildren, Heather Gianonatti (Carl), Katie Sandeen, Charlie Triozzi, and Roland James "RJ" Triozzi; her great-grandchildren, Dominick Gianonatti, Jacob Gianonatti, and Annalise Gianonatti; many nieces and nephews.
We all love you, Frances, and will miss you!!!
