Franciko Abrahams, also known as Miller and affectionately called Satta Masa Gana, was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on April 24, 1949, in Kingston, Jamaica, to the late Louise Duncan Peart and Noel Abrahams.
Franciko grew up in Denham Town and attended Denham Town Secondary School, where he met his first love, Lorna. At the age of 18, they went on to have three beautiful daughters: Jeanette Abrahams, Marica Abrahams, and Carmella Abrahams. Later, he met Angela, and together they had two more children: Simone Abraham and the late Franciko Abraham Jr.
He faced many challenges in his early years, especially after his mother migrated to America. With the guidance and care of his grandmother Louise, he was able to overcome those hardships and continue on his path.
Franciko worked a variety of domestic jobs and even worked in security before finding stability in a sanitation job. Though he had several opportunities to move to America earlier in life, he chose to stay in Jamaica to care for his grandmother. After she passed away, he made the decision to migrate to New York in 1978.
Once in the Bronx, he reunited with his mother and siblings and chose to return to school to study plumbing, which he mastered. Known as a jack of all trades, Franciko also found a passion for driving. He began working for Edenwald Taxi Company in the Bronx before moving to Laconia, where he became known by everyone as number 77.
In 1983, Franciko began building a new life in America. By 1988, he began a relationship with Tressa, and together they raised two daughters, Jamilla and Tamara Gary. He later welcomed his last son, Devon, with Cookie.
Franciko was loved by many. He was a quiet, humble, caring, and loving man. Those who knew him would describe him as a protector, a guardian, and a deeply respectful and loyal individual. He was well known, well respected, and never sought out trouble. The love he had for his children was deep and unwavering.
On January 6, 1999, Franciko’s life changed after a tragic car accident left him in a coma for several months. When he awoke, doctors informed his family that he would be permanently disabled, unable to speak or walk again. But God had other plans. Though he was never able to walk again, Franciko continued to fight and communicate in his own way. He was a natural-born fighter who never gave up.
He was lovingly cared for by his siblings Janet, Glen, Winston, and Pauline for over 20 years. His strength, resilience, and love will never be forgotten.
Franciko passed peacefully on May 6, 2025, at 5:37 a.m. He leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance.
He is survived by six beautiful daughters, seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers, and a host of family and friends who cherished him.
