Freda Marcelle Repass , 92, of Orlando, FL, passed away on May 25, 2017. She is survived by her son, Robert Shannon Repass and his wife, Maria L. Colon-Repass, both of Orlando, Fl. Freda was born on March 25,1925 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Mary Dessiseau Furrow and Frederick Shannon Harry. She was an only child and was always known for her beauty, piercing blue eyes and thick, wavy, brunette hair. It was no surprise then, that she served and represented her state as Miss West Virginia when she was only 18 years old. In her later years, Freda never lost her signature full hair, even though the brunette was later replaced with a natural silver-white color.
Freda moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. in 1944 to go to Junior College and live with her grandmother, who ran a boarding house. During the war, Freda along with the young ladies at the time, would go the places like The Pier, Coliseum, and the Manhattan Casino halls to dance with young soldiers who were homesick and far from the comfort of their families.
On September 24, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Frank Repass from Burkes Garden, VA. She had always been told she might never have children, and after being married for 12 years, she gave birth to her only child, Robert (Bob) on March 3, 1959. Then, in 1967, along with her husband and son, she moved to Orlando, Fl where she spent the remainder of her life. She was married to Joe for 65 years, and became widowed when she lost her husband in 2012. For the last 5 years of her life, Freda continued to live in her home, as she always wanted, living independently and even continued to drive her car to all her outings.
Freda will be remembered as a dedicated caretaker to her son and husband, but who also personally cared for her grandmother and mother until their passings. She was as dedicated as she was generous to her family in particular, but in addition, to all who knew her. Everyone, from neighbors, doctors, nurses, and beauticians were touched by her kindness and good nature. To know Freda, was to love her, simply put.
In a very loving dedication and tribute to her beautiful life, please join us for a Memorial Service on June 3, 2017 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park, as we wear her favorite color pink in her memory.
Freda Marcelle Repass, you will be lovingly missed, but also, you leave behind within those of us you've touched during your 92 year life, a beautiful and comforting smile, because we had the pleasure and privilege to have known you, and in return, be so beautifully loved by you.
