Gary Allen Kees Sr.

Gary Allen Kees Sr, 82, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away February 8, 2021. He was born in Burnwell, West Virginia on March 4, 1938. He was married to Betty Matchett on November 2, 1962. Gary worked in the automobile business and was the owner of Dick Bennett Motors Inc.

Born the son of a coal miner, Gary moved to Florida in 1962 after a vacation to Daytona Beach where he met his future bride, Betty. After a brief stint as a firefighter, he started his long and successful career in the car business. He was a member of the Florida Independent Automobile Dealers Association where he was an Honorary Life Director, Past President and former State Quality Dealer. He previously served on the Board for the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association. Gary was an avid golfer and those who knew him well knew that if he wasn’t at the car lot, they could always find him on the golf course. He enjoyed playing poker and bridge. He also had a passion for singing and was once a member of the Freedom Quartet that traveled thru the southern United States singing at various revivals and churches. He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife "Peaches" and always by his "Daddy’s little girl" Kellie. The family rejoices in the fact that he is now joined in Heaven with his daughter Jodie and his son, Gary Jr. "Little Bud".

He was survived by his loving wife, Betty Kees; daughter; Kellie Kees VanMeter and son-in-law Robert Lee VanMeter, and brother, Clifford Kees.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 pm on Monday, Febraury 15, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Private graveside services will follow the funeral for the family. The family cordially invites all guests to join them for a reception following the funeral service at the funeral home from 12:30 pm - 3 pm.
