Jean E. Mathews, an extraordinary, strong woman completed her journey on earth and died peacefully on April 22, 2022 at age 91. Born in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia, she immigrated to Orlando, Florida in 1945 with her mother and two sisters, Leila and Marian. Jean graduated from Orlando High School; and a few years later, she met her future husband, William Mathews, at a dance. They married in 1953, had two children and were together for 44 happy, spirited years until she became a widow in 1997. Jean loved to travel and returned to her native Australia several times. She loved family, music, and shopping. She had recently quoted, “Keep well, keep walking, keep eating and see the sights”. She is survived by children, Anita (Mark), Doug (Shelley); her sister, Caroline (Larry); 7 nieces, nephews, and their children.
