Bob is survived by his sister, Kate Freihofer and husband, Brent, of Jensen Beach, Florida; sister Jules Andrew and husband, Bill Clark, of Jensen Beach, Florida; aunt Joan Early of Wheeling, Indiana; Aunt Lynn Altepeter of Lafayette, Indiana; Uncle Glenn Andrew and wife, Carol, of Lebanon, Indiana; and many cousins.
Bob, a bright light in life, embarked on a journey from a joyful baby in Indiana to navigating the complexities of life and career in Gainesville, Florida. He chose computer science as his path, completing his degree at the University of Florida. His career took off when he secured a job in programming, where he worked on the monumental challenge of “Y2K” in the banking industry. This pivotal experience propelled him to a successful career as a programmer for prominent financial institutions, where he continued to excel until his retirement in 2024.
Bob, known for his lively antics at family outings, inherited his mother Ann’s infectious sense of humor and silliness. They shared a lot in common and were often the life of the party. Bob’s adventurous spirit led him to travel the world, exploring places like London, Paris, and Germany. He also enjoyed numerous cruises. His parents, sisters, and long-time girlfriend Ann Forbes supported him throughout his travels, making them memorable experiences. While Bob cherished his time away, he also found comfort in being close to home.
As an avid Gator fan, he shared his passion for the University of Florida with his parents and extended family.
There will be no formal funeral services. Condolences would be welcomed by the family and can be input on the Woodlawn Funeral Home website.
