Joel graduated from Ocoee High School. He married Cheri Lee Reisinger on May 1, 1976.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam and Desert Strom.
He had a career in Carpentry and Construction, mostly for Commercial. He had a passion for the outdoors, politics, and spending time with family.
Joel is survived by his daughter, Cherice Doss-Gertsman; grandchildren, Phoenix Gertsman, Candence Gertsman, Tory Moore, Kiarnan Kaleshefski-Jones, Arwen Kaleshefski, and Martha Mary Paige Kaleshefski; great grandchildren, Luke Ornes, Aurora Moore and Olivia Moore; and his siblings, Martha Doss-Hopkins, Mary Sue Doss Darley, Marion Faye Doss Akers and Ray Doss.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, located at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, on January 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A committal service will follow at Florida National Cemetery, located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513, on January 16, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
