John Drury Davis (age 91) passed away in his sleep on 17 May 2022, in Oviedo Florida. He was born on 1 April 1931 in Glouster Ohio, the son of John Robert Davis and Marie E Drury.
John graduated Northern Ohio University and was a Pharmacist for more than forty years, last working for Eckerds Drugs. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Gladys Ruth Story (Garrison) on 13 October 1981 in Orlando, Florida. They celebrated exactly 29 years of marriage when she passed on 13 Oct 2010. John was a loyal member of both the Freemason’s and Shriners for over 70 years, last being a member of the Bahia Shrine in Orlando, where he played trombone for the Bahia Shrine Band and served as its President in 2008.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Anna Louise Rudden (Davis) who passed in 2000, and a brother, Robert Paul Davis who died in 1928 at the age of three, and a granddaughter Abbey McClary Smith who died in 1999 at the age of 18. John, his wife Gladys, and their granddaughter Abbey are interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha Florida.
He is survived by his Nephew Paul Rudden, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland and his step-daughter Donna May Smith (Story) and her husband Scott of Washington, Utah and their children Carrie B Hill, Lawton D Smith and his spouse Amy; Parker G Smith and his fiancé Lauren. John is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Briana, Jackson and Austin Hill; Abbey, Aidan, Olive and Ian Smith; Easton and Keagan Smith; and Kendrick Michael Cat-Bagan Smith.
John is also survived by his beloved friends Cathy and Tom Martin, of Winter Park Florida, who selflessly watched over him for the last years of his life.
John was interred next to beloved wife Gladys on 2 June 2022.
