

John J. Garrett III known as JJ to everyone, passed away on August 29, 2012, with his family by his side. JJ was a proud Air Force veteran for 20 years and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Florida Dept. of Revenue, he went on to do what he loved the most—From a Director to President to Manager of the Greater Orlando Bowling Association for 39 years. He was inducted into both the Greater Orlando Bowling Association and Florida State Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame. In 1994, he was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by then Governor Brereton C. Jones.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Nellie. His children, Nancy Wallace (Lee Stone), Orlando, Pat (Denise) Garrett, Davenport, Margaret Engels, Orlando, John J(Joyce) Garrett IV, Kissimmee, Mark(Susie) Jesse, Mulberry. His brothers, Jerry (Linda) Garrett, Edgewater Danny (Jackie) Garrett, West Henrietta, NY., sister, Marge Thomas, Buffalo, NY. His sister in laws, Joy (Phil) Bell, Shelbyville, KY., Rita Tingle, Taylorsville, KY., Brenda Wayne, New Albany, IN. Brother in laws, Darrel (Vicki) Campbell, Shelbyville, KY., Barry Campbell, Taylorsville, KY., 10 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren ,and the many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 4-8pm in the Chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Fl. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Comforter Hospice House at 655 Montgomery Rd., Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714.
