It’s been 2 years since I have last seen your smile. And I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!
I think of you every day that our Lord wakes me up. Seeing the places we went to as family, the places you frequently visited, particularly the gym! I know that those days are gone but I can remember that smile you always readily gave!
God is really good and He loves you so much!!!

It’s been one year Kuya, still feels like it was just yesterday. We miss you a lot, everyone loves and misses you so much. Sometimes, I believe that I’m just living my life until I can see you again. That is my purpose and it’s what I’m waiting for. I’m just waiting until I can finally talk to you again and be able to hug you. I keep thinking how you would handle certain things that are happening today, especially the pandemic. I already know you would be going crazy staying inside and not being able to visit the gym. I also keep thinking about how I will have to live without you in the future, like you won’t be able to meet ate’s kids or travel with me in the future. We can’t even go get Vietnamese food anymore. It’s okay, I’ll just wait. Pls wait for me, too. I love you kuya, see you soon.

Jon, as we lay you to rest, I’m still hoping that this is all a nightmare I’m going to wake up from. My heart breaks all over, thinking about having to live in a world without you. I wish that I could’ve given you more love and I’m sorry I couldn’t be always there for you. You were always such an inspiration to me with how you went after your goals and how you wanted to dedicate your life to helping other people better themselves. You were always so giving even when you had nothing to give. And always so thoughtful, with the biggest heart. I’ll always wish that you could’ve been here longer with me, but I know that now you are finally able to rest peacefully. I’ll miss you every day until we meet again. Rest easy baby brother. I was extremely sadden to hear of your passing. You were truly a kind soul and always extended a helping hand. From getting gummy bears at 2 a.m to forcing me to go to the gym every day, you were always someone I could count on to brighten up my day no matter what. The world seems more dim with the absence of your presence but God has plans for everyone and it seems as though he has a special one for you. May you rest easy my friend for you will be dearly missed.

My son, I miss you so dearly.   This has been most difficult time and to write this I never imagine, though I thank God for gifting us  with you.  I know God has a plan, but in my humanity it is so hard to comprehend losing you...I hope by the grace of God I can get a glimpse of what this truly means.   As I read the passage from Isaiah 55:8-9 over and over, it help put things into perspective..."For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
You are an inspiration to many,  especially to me, your mom, and both of your sisters.  You've touch many lives with your kind and loving ways, always ready to help others- putting yourself last...son, your heart is immeasurable!  I remember when you  were in elementary/middle school  at Holy Family,  you wanted to be an altar server at church, and you did.  You started serving God then and continued throughout college serving others, just as "Jesus came to serve, but not to be serve..."  God has a bigger job for you now son, and in my mind this just don on me why you worked out so hard beside being it your passion and working toward attaining your personal trainer certification, which you successfully done so...we were all proud of you. But you were also preparing yourself to join God's Army of Angel fighting along side St. Michael the Archangel.  Literally, I looked up to you then as you grew, and I now look up to you even more.  You are my guardian Angel.  I love very much! ❤😘





Writing this is extremely hard for me Jon , I’m having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that you’re gone because you had the biggest impact in my life. When  we met you became my best friend almost immediately and someone whom I considered my brother. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for being such a great friend and role model to me , I strive to be even half the man you were. You were the kindest person I’ve ever met and I’m really sorry that I wasn’t there more for you when you needed it , I can promise you one thing Jon, I will never ever forget you , the memories we shared together I will cherish them forever. Love you bud. 


It was a blessing to know Jonathan for as long as I did, I was friends with him since elementary school and I was lucky to continue this relationship with him all the way into college. I will always remember him as being a great guy, kindhearted, patient, and outgoing. JJ never had anything bad to say , he only had words of encouragement and was always willing to put in the effort to improve himself and those around him. This past summer I was able to spend almost everyday with him , whether it was working out or going out to eat. His attitude to keep going on in the gym was incredible and was one that truly motivated those around him. He was very passionate about lifting and eating. He always had an appetite and I’ll miss getting those massive post workout meals in with one of my best “buds” as JJ would say it. I love JJ to death and I’ll always remember that lad. I know I won’t see you again on earth but we will meet again one day and talk about God, the gym and food. Some of my greatest conversations with JJ were about spirituality and faith. I’ll keep praying for your soul while you watch over mine. Cheers JJ you’ll be greatly missed by all of the Holy Family crew.

Not only were you the most kind and charismatic person I’ve ever met, you were the true definition of a brother. I am glad there are so many memories we’ve made together that I can’t choose which is my favorite. Whether it was in the gym, on the couch playing video games til 3am, or any social event, you were always the one with the most contagious energy and drive. It will never seem like you’re truly gone because of how well I and all of the other people you have touched will always remember you. Thank you for always being there to lend a hand even when you didn’t have a hand to reach out with. Thank you for showing me how important selflessness is. You will always be a huge inspiration, JJ. We’re all going to miss you, but before you know it, we’re going to be there with you chowing down on all the candy and gummies we can imagine.

Jon,

You were the first person I ever met at USF. You were the first roommate I ever had. You were the first person to tell me about fraternity life at USF. You were the first person I considered as my friend in college. You and I shared so many firsts together. We shared the milestone of starting college together. We shared the struggles of hearing the alarm ring at 7:50am and having to jump out of bed to make it to our 8am classes. I still can not believe you're gone and I don't think I ever will because those who die in christ will live forever. 

My most fond memory of you is when we most recently went camping in Georgia, set up hammocks, and talked until the sun came up. Staring at the stars to which you had so much wonder, asking me what I think dark matter is, what is actually out there, to which I had no answer, but now you have them all. Another memory is playing 'golf' inside our summer residence hall with frisbees, basketballs, trashcans, and pingpong balls.

It's only a matter of time until we meet again and upon arrival I will have the worlds largest gummy worm waiting for you.

You were the absolute nicest person I have had the pleasure of meeting. To say you are selfless, caring, and compassionate is simply an understatement. I love you, EOC Jecino. Gone but never forgotten.

You were one the best friends I’ve ever had. Your positivity and comedy always lit up any room that you stepped in. 

You made so many positive impacts in my life such as getting me to the gym consistently, teaching me how to post up in basketball, and being a great friend. 

I remember you taking this picture, which occurred during a typical school night as you were trash talking my NBA team in 2K..you almost had me. We always had great debates about basketball or talking about just life in general.

I know you are resting easy now brother, but I hope you realize that cutting season is around the corner and that we need to get to work!

You were a great friend, great roommate and overall the nicest person I have ever met when I say this.
I still remember our daily talks about the gym and you always finding a way to push me harder and be a better version of myself whether it involved pushing weights, doing homework, doing chores etc.  
You were always so positive no matter what was going on around you and you always want others to be happy no matter what. At times you put others happiness in front of yours and that is something that fascinated me about you from the start.
You have made such a huge impact in my life and taught me so many things without you ever recognizing it. 
Your charisma, dedication and positivity will always be unmatched my friend and I wish I could of told you this one last time.
I hope there is a gym in haven that has the best deadlift machines that you can enjoy.

I remember doing so much with you, Kuya. We always watched The Office together while we ate food...that we probably shouldn’t have spent money on, since there was food at home. But we would always find an excuse to get something to eat. We would go through phases with different tv shows. If one of us watched it alone, the other person would get upset that we were watching it without them.  I miss doing everything with you. We always laughed at the weirdest things. I hate the fact that I had to lose you to realize that you gave me so much while I could’ve done more. We went job hunting with each other, and you got me my first job when I was too shy. You spoiled me with extravagant gifts during Christmas and my birthday when you could’ve saved the money for your responsibilities. You always took me to work and school when I had no ride, no matter how tired you were or how early I woke you up.  I wish I had one last time to tell you how much I love and appreciate you.

You were my roommate, my closest friend in college, and truly a one of a kind man. I will miss our daily jokes and conversations . I don’t think anyone has made me laugh as hard as you have, whenever you would tell me goofy stories of the things you have done. As everyone knows you were a beast in the gym, I used to hate going with you because you would destroy me in there. Also I still laugh that you never cared about waking me up at 8am to go even though I was always very grumpy. However you would never let me be disappointed with my results even if you were lifting twice the amount I was and you truly inspired me to better myself . 

I’ll miss the daily talks till 3am about our future and career paths. I’m so grateful to have been your friend and to have experienced such a endlessly delightful time. It’s hard to find a favorite memory, as all of my memories with you are hilarious or delightful, but Il never forget our cross state trip to get puppy Rocky in Daytona, during the middle of the night. I will never forget how excited you were to get that little bundle of happiness.

It is crazy that we lived together, worked together and did about everything together, but I still feel like I wish I spent more time with you. I think that says a lot about who you were as a man. I truly miss you Jon and when it’s my time to go to heaven, I hope there is a spot open in the gym to join you. I miss you and love you buddy, rest easy.

Jonathon Jecino (JJ) was one of the first people I met at USF in the summer of 2015. When I first met him he was so kind-hearted and would do anything for anyone, and that carried on for as long as I knew him. He would get his closest friends gifts for the holidays and not expect anything in return.
He always worked hard in life, whether it be the gym, his job, or school. 
I don't have a specific favorite memory of JJ because every moment with him was a memory. He was such a goofball. 

I speak for myself, and our fraternity, that he will always be thought about and will forever be missed.

Praying for my nephew-baby cousin, Jonathon Mathyu.  May God bless your soul, may His light shine upon you ever so bright.  If I could go back in time, I would spend more time with you, let you know how much family you are to me, how much I love you like my own son, and how much you mean to me. I would have told you that you and your sister were one of the reasons I moved back home to Orlando, in hopes that you’d grow up knowing I was there and I’d be there when you needed me. I would not let work and the busyness of the world get in the way of spending quality time with you. There are so many things I would do different if I could go back into time. But since I can’t, I want you to know how much I love you, how much our family loved you, how excited I was to see where you went in this life, how I was excited to mentor you into your next stage in life with your career. We will miss you so much Jonathon... I know you’re in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ and I hope one day to also give you a hug and let you know this in person. Rest In Peace my young nephew... Until we meet again.

Dear Jonathan,
I will surely miss your smile and your thoughtfulness. Your love for cooking and making your own recipes, making a really good tasty dish from a leftover. Your voice when you come into the kitchen “Hi mom”, or “What are you making mom?” Or “Do you need help?”
Your readiness to say sorry, your jokes, your goodnights...
I love you and that will never change..you are God’s gift to us that I will forever treasure...letting you go is one of the hardest thing to do but God  have bigger plans for you...
So for now I will just have to say, “See you later, God willing”.

Jonathon, Jon, JJ. Whatever you called him, if you knew him, then you know what a kind person he was.  JJ took me to my first ever Fraternity Formal, and I was so nervous. I had heard horror stories from other girls about what might happen over the weekend with a frat guy, and was mentally preparing myself for the worst. Luckily, my date wasn't like any other frat guy, he was the sweetest, most respectful and caring gentleman. JJ made sure that I never felt uncomfortable, and that I was always having a great time. He was the most selfless guy that I had the honor of meeting during my time at USF, and I will never forget him or that very special weekend that we got to spend together. Love you JJ.
