He married Janet Ann Zak on December 12, 1989.
Joseph had a career in Psychiatric Services for Middletown Psychiatric Center, New York and Lakeside Alternatives, Orlando
He was a member of BPOE Post 1079, Orlando and had a passion for his German Heritage, the New York Jets and Golf.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Jim Zamiska and Liam B. Smith; grandson, Patrick J. Smith and his wife, Shelby McGuire Smith; great grandson, Finnegan McGuire Smith and his siblings, Amanda Pierskalla, Germany and John Zak, New York.
Celebration of life for Joseph will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha on Saturday, March 29 from 1-3pm.
