Kitty Lassiter, 88, of Orlando, Florida passed peacefully in her sleep on May 22, 2014 at Winter Park Towers. Born November 7, 1925 in Greensboro, North Carolina, Kitty married and moved to Orlando in 1952 where she raised her family, waitressed at the Langford Hotel for more than 30 years and was an active member of First United Church of Christ. She spent the last seven years of her life with her daughter in Colorado until last September when she moved back home to Orlando. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park beside her husband, James E. Lassiter Sr., of 54 years.Kitty is survived by her son, Jim and daughter-in-law Terri Lassiter, daughter Kathy Van Newhouse and predeceased by daughter Pam Canniff. She was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.Kitty’s zest for life will live on through her extended family. Truly loved by all, she will be missed and not forgotten. A funeral service will be at 2:00pm Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd., Gotha, FL. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
