Louis was born July 15, 1929 in Baltimore Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Landefeld and father, Louis E. Landefeld, Sr.
Louis has 1 surviving brother George Landefeld, sister Virginia Childress, and sister-in law Marion Landefeld who live in Maryland.
Louis and Dorothy Hockman met while both were working at Martin Marietta, Baltimore, MD, and were married on July 2, 1955 in Baltimore.
Louis and Dorothy moved to Florida in 1959 from Maryland. Louis worked for the Martin Marietta Company for 42 years before retiring.
They had 2 children; a son, Dennis and a daughter, Leslie.
Louis touched many lives during his life. He helped establish Rolling Hills Little League in Pine Hills, and was a baseball coach for many years. The young men he coached would always call him coach Landefeld when they would see each other.
He was a member of the Royal Order of the Moose and VFW.
Lou’s passion was singing in the church choir. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Pine Hills since 1959. He loved the Lord and helped at the church in many capacities.
When Lou retired he became a fisherman. He had never fished before but he soon became “hooked” on fishing. He had many fishing buddies who would go out and fish all day. His best memories of fishing were when he was with his son, Dennis. They enjoyed so many talks and would forget the rest of the world existed when they were together.
Lou was also an Orange County Auxiliary Officer. His son, Dennis was an Orange County Deputy and Lou joined so he could ride and be with him. He loved that part of his life not only doing something for the community but again being with Dennis.
Lou loved sports and his passion was the Orlando Predators Football team which he loved going to the games with his daughter Leslie. They were season ticket holders for 5 years.
Lou and Leslie would go to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus each year as an annual father daughter event.
He has a wonderful daughter-in-law, Shelley and has two grandchildren, Chad and Preston and also has a new Granddaughter in-law Preston’s wife, Rachel.
Lou had done and seen many things in his lifetime. He was married to his lovely wife for 56 years; as they were so much in love. They loved to travel together and were always busy.
Lou also went thru many hardships losing his parents, losing good friends, and helping his daughter, Leslie beat cancer two times by being there for her through it all.
Lou was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; and will be greatly missed by so many. God speed to a man who made a mark on his family, his friends, his co-workers, his church, and his community and to everyone he came in contact with. He will not be forgotten but fondly remembered! He set a great example of Christian living for us all.
Donations may be made in Lou's honor to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778, phone (888) 728-6234.
