

Margaret Dell “Margie” Lalani (nee O’Brien),77 of Merritt Island, FL succumbed to complications of her 40-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born on June 16, 1948 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, the youngest of six siblings and was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert O’Brien Sr. and Orel Fahrenkrug O’Brien Barker, sisters, Marilyn Conner and Maureen Jordan and grandson, Logan Lalani.
On October 27, 1970 she wed her lifelong soul mate, Nazir “Nash” Lalani and planted roots in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, where they built a beautiful life, raising a son and daughter, opening three restaurants and travelling in their spare time. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Brownsburg, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and serving on the Altar Guild.
In the early 2000’s Margie and Nash officially retired and moved to Merritt Island, FL, where they opened their home to countless family members vacationing in Florida, witnessing the infamous space shuttles and rockets and escaping the harsh wintery weather of northern climates. Margie was also blessed to watch her two grandsons grow up in nearby Cape Canaveral, where she shared her faith with them at Christ Lutheran Church.
Margie loved being outdoors, watching the crashing ocean waves especially during tropical storms, listening to all types of music, cooking and baking, creating keepsake scrapbooks and simply spending time with family. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Nazir “Nash” Lalani, daughter, Maureen Lalani, son Nazir “A.J.” Lalani (Stephanie), grandsons, Christian Lalani and Jackson Lalani, sisters, Marleen Thrasher and Meredith “Susie” Ficklin, brother, Wilbert “Bill” O’Brien Jr., as well as many other family and friends to cherish her memory.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734. A burial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted as Margie loved receiving flowers; alternatively donations may be made to the National MS Society.
