

STEELE, JANE JOHNSON 81, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born Sept. 12, 1929, in Macon, GA, she and her family moved to Central Florida during her junior high school years. Jane attended Orlando High School and graduated in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Calvin, on Sept. 4, 1948. She was a homemaker (the original soccer mom), bridge player, Pink Lady Auxiliary volunteer, and an avid golfer at West Orange Country Club. She enjoyed working at Walt Disney World and Flagship Bank of Orlando. After relocating in the late '70's to Tavares, Jane worked full time in the Trust Department at the First National Bank of Mt. Dora. Jane is survived by her husband of 62 years, Calvin D. Steele; sons David (JoAnne), Kent (Marsha) and daughter Cherie Ruhle (Robert), nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as her only and much loved sister, Ann Harris (Phil), and the Harris family members. Jane passed along memories of laughter and fun at the beach, love of puzzles, card playing and reading to all her family members. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 24 at 2 p.m., visitation begins at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
