

Michael A. Mason was born on February 24th, 1953, on Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Jack Nolan Mason and Mary Catherine DeSantis Mason. Later, the family relocated to an Army base in Germany. The family lived in Germany for several years, including a second tour in the country that ended when Mike was a high school senior in Baumholder, Germany. When he was 17, Mike moved back to the United States with his family and graduated high school in El Paso, Texas. After high school, Mike served aboard an aircraft carrier with the US Navy. When his service was complete, he moved back to the Central Florida area and was soon hired at the newly opened Walt Disney World resort complex on June 9, 1972. He stayed with the Disney corporation for over 40 years, starting as a street magician and working his way up to a management position with West Attractions Engineering Services in the Magic Kingdom. Mike was still working with the Disney corporation at the time of his death on November 5, 2013. In his personal time, he was an avid remote controlled aircraft pilot and builder. He loved to build, tinker with, and fly his many model aircraft. Mike was a registered model aircraft pilot with the Remote Control Association of Central Florida, primarily flying from their field in Apopka, Florida. His early years living in Germany fostered a lifelong passion for travel. Mike greatly enjoyed bi-yearly trips with his wife, Diana, where they visited locations across Europe from Amsterdam to Budapest.He was a dedicated family man, known for being incredibly generous to his family and friends, and a kind and caring man to all. Mike is survived in his immediate family by his wife, Diana, his adult children, Rebecca and Michael, and his grandsons, Jared and Blake. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
