She was born in rural Bedford County, Pennsylvania on October 19th, 1918 to the late Thomas & Alma (Taylor) Ling. And, she married her beloved Harold D. Bechtol on June 28th, 1947.
Mildred had a quick wit and a very dry sense of humor. She recently joked with her chaplain, Paul, who asked what he should call her:
“Queen Elizabeth would be nice,” she answered. And, he called her the “Queen Mum,” or “Her Highness” ever since!
Mildred was characterized by having everything under her control; she worked for quite some time as an administrative assistant for high level executives in the engineering industry. And, because of her avid reading of history and her passion for genealogy research, her family would often come to her with their questions about the family legacy. She even made a pilgrimage to Holland to literally walk in the footsteps of her research! And, at home, she began writing a book about her findings, to sit alongside her impeccable financial books of years gone by…
Mildred tended to be very private, but she was family-oriented, and she will be deeply missed by her own.
Mildred was preceded in death by her folks and her dear husband; her daughter, Tracey Kim Bechtol; two brothers, Walter and Otto Ling; her sister, Evelyn Stile; and two sons-in-law, Vern Green and Tom Ousley.
She is survived by her daughters, Dolores Anne Kerezman (Paul), Kay Ellen Green (Vern-dec’d) and Barbara J. “B.J.” Ousley (Tom-dec’d); and by her son, Thomas R.H. Bechtol (DeeDee); her sister, Ethel Adams; eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; and, MANY loving nieces & nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida.
A private family service will be held at graveside, Saturday, February 14th.
In lieu of flowers, the family emphatically requests donations to Halifax Health Hospice of Orange City, to whom they are deeply grateful. http://www.hovf.org/donate
