

Mohindar Singh Hans, a resident of Orange Tree, Orlando, Florida, for the past 44 years, was born in Nairobi, Kenya on July 29, 1929, the eldest son of Partap Singh Hans and Chand Kaur Hans and lived his life across 4 continents.
Mohindar, after finishing school under the tutelage of Sher Singh Kaler, his beloved Birji, and a short apprenticeship as plumber under the watchful eye of Anokh Singh Heran , a friend of his father, in Mombasa, started the first of many business ventures in Dar Es Salaam, Tanganyika (now known as Tanzania), aptly called “Dar Es Salaam Plumbing Works” at a tender young age of 18 years.
Mohindar married Harinder Kaur Mangat daughter of Ajit Singh Mangat and Tej Kaur Mangat on December 25, 1950, 74 years ago.
Mohindar was a beacon of possibility and example of hard work having learned many early lessons in his business career. He showed many what perseverance in the face of adversity really meant with a "get up and get going again attitude". After the plumbing business, Mohindar attained an upper management position with Shell Aviation in Nairobi Kenya.
On emigrating to the United Kingdom he became one of the first Sikhs with a turban to own and operate successful Pubs, start a Fine Dining Indian Cuisine Restaurant called "The Tandoor" in Wolverhampton with his brothers. The Restaurant would win many accolades as one of the top Indian Cuisine Restaurants in England.
Moving to the USA came with new opportunities including operating a La Quinta Motel, Howard Johnson Hotel and being involved in a Taxi Cab Business in Orlando.
Mohindar was very athletic and represented Tanganyika / Tanzania at the International level in Field Hockey in his late teens and early twenties. He was a good Badminton player at the club level. Later he would take up Golf in the USA and play consistently well. He was an avid player of Bridge and would participate and preside over regular Saturday night family bridge sessions with an accompanying glass of good scotch.
Mohindar had been an active member of the Rotary Club South Orlando and was a founding member of two Gurdwaras, one in Kissimmee and the other in Orlando. A contributing member of the Sadh Sangat to his last days
Mohindar had 2 sisters and 3 brothers younger to himself. 2 sisters and 1 brother survive him. He leaves behind a loving wife, 3 sons and their wives, 4 grand children and 4 great grand children.
His love for all those that touched his life is and was immeasurable.
Funeral Services are to held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetary Road, Gotha Florida 34734, with Sikh religious services to be held at Sikh Gurdwara Orlando , 4219 S John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL 32839
