He was born on February 11, 1921 in Panama City to the late Osvaldo Perez Varas and Luz Maria Herbozo Calles.
Osvaldo was a tailor by trade; but, a part time DIY guy. He loved to travel, loved flea markets, Long Island, beaches, cruises and his music from the 1930's to 1960's. He spoke many languages: French, Italian, English, and Portuguese. He never liked to use a map or ask for directions. For instance, one year we were going to Mystic Island for a weekend. We got lost, as usual, and drove around for hours. It was probably midnight or later when my dad stopped at this diner-style restaurant to eat and get directions because we could not find a place to sleep. Soon he started to make friends with the patron who spoke Italian. They hit it off, and to help us out, he let us all sleep in an empty ballroom for the night from the hotel next door.
Osvaldo will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Alberto Perez, Edith Perez, Betty Perez and Norma Perez.
He is survived by his spouse, Migdalia; his daughters, Jacqueline Perezcanto and Elizabeth Robert;
his grandchildren, John Robert (spouse, Isabel), Brandon Robert (spouse, Mailin), Miguel AD Mangione, Walter Mangione, Juan Carlos Mangione, Alexander Mangione and Maritza Lopez (spouse, Angel); and, his great grandchildren, Jonathan Robert, Sophia Robert, Alejandro Robert, Anthony Robert and Chanel Lopez.
