Raymond Lewis Shepard was born on May 12, 1940, in Midway, Kentucky. He had one brother named Ronald Shepard. Married for 55 years to his first wife Sharon Wheeler, they were blessed with two children, Darlene Celso and Mark Shepard. He lived in Central Florida for 44 years and after Sharon passed away, Raymond moved to Louisville, Tennessee to be with his family. In Tennessee, he married his second wife, Marita Weaver. Raymond passed away at Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 12, 2018.
Raymond was a devout Christian who worked in the Soft Drink business for over 40 years. He spent most of his time in Tennessee volunteering at a community center in Louisville and was an active member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. He loved his family, his community, and the Tennessee mountains.
Raymond is survived by his brother Ronald, his wife Marita, his daughter Darlene, and three grandchildren Stephen Shepard, Kenny Shepard, and Rebecca Griffith. Raymond was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Sophia Shepard, Skylar Shepard, Stephen Shepard Jr., and Mason Shepard.
Raymond fell in an accident a few days before Christmas and has been in a hospital trying to recover from post-fall surgery complications. The nurses all mentioned how pleasant and loving of a person he was, even when he was in pain. While Raymond will be missed dearly, he will always be in the hearts of his family and loved ones. Raymond was truly one of a kind and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19,2018 at 1:30pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Gotha, FL.
