

He is preceded in death by his parents James Borders and M. Elizabeth Terril. He is survived by his wife Diana Borders. He is also survived by his seven children: Steven Borders, Michael Borders, Robbie Borders, Kevin Borders, Renee Borders, Kelly Borders, and Logan Borders. And two stepsons: Ryan Bowers and Jonathan Bowers. He was a proud grandfather of four: Kaitlyn Borders, Ella Bowers, Samuel Borders, and Cohen Bowers. Bob always remarked he considered his greatest achievement in life to be his children.
Bob retired from the United States Air Force at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1975 after serving over 20 years, specializing in Nuclear Weapons. After leaving military service he began his second career as a student obtaining several Bachelor degrees and completing his PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of South Carolina. Bob had a passion for teaching and taught at numerous universities. Most recently, he was a professor of Chemistry at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida where he taught Organic and General Chemistry for the past 9 years. He watched many of his students go on to become pharmacist, nurses, and doctors.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24th at 3:00pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Gotha, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DAV, Fisher House, and/or Wounded Warrior.
