Beloved husband of Doris Simpson. They were happily married for nearly 67 years. She had been waiting his arrival in heaven since January 2024. Oh, what a reunion that must have been!
Loving father of Cindy (Kevin) Eingle, Bob (Darlene) Simpson, Steve (Dana) Simpson, and Julie (Eric) Piner.
Dearest grandfather of Dawn (Curt) Smith, Tyler Eingle, Shyanna Mulholland, Autumn Simpson, Savannah Simpson, Ali Simpson, Luke (Markie) Simpson, Shad Simpson, Rose Piner and Gar Piner
Dearest great-grandfather of Logan Grippin, Railyn, Zaida and Nolan Eingle, Emercyn and Grady Smith, and Coleson Simpson.
Loving son of Pearl Wolverton and Wayne Simpson. He was the oldest of their 3 children.
Bob met Doris in Hutchinson, Kansas, March of 1957. Their beautiful love story began, and just two weeks later, in April, they were married. Together they created a life that brought four children, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren into the world.
He proudly served our country for almost 28 years. His career began in the US Navy working on an aircraft carrier and traveling the world, seeing 24 countries in four years. He left the Navy, but a year later he re-enlisted with the US Air Force. Over his career he lived in multiple states, as well as Thailand and England. He led the Life Support division responsible for preparing survival equipment, and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. Upon retirement from the military, he and his family settled in sunny Orlando, Florida.
Bob and Doris loved traveling. They made yearly trips to Michigan and Kansas, their home states, to visit family. They were attendees of all family and extended family reunions. For a few years, they lived and traveled in an RV. They embarked on countless adventures and sightseeing trips, as they drove all across the USA. They enjoyed attending live shows in Branson, MO and Biloxi, MS. They liked country music and concerts, and no trip was complete without trying their luck at the slot machines.
Bob was so generous to his family and was a great gift giver. Christmas was a site to behold in the Simpson house, with abundant gifts and festive decorations. Bob had many collections, including model cars, coins and DVD’s. He enjoyed watching movies, but only liked the ones that had a feel-good ending.
He liked playing card games. He was always the one jumping across the table in our games of Spoons!
He enjoyed eating out at restaurants and he loved his coffee, anytime of day. He had a sweet tooth and dessert was his favorite part of the meal. Most family restaurant trips included a battle of the straws.
Bob had a knack for keeping his family and friends entertained with his endless jokes and mischievous pranks. There was never a shortage of laughter when he was with you. If covered straws do exist in heaven, all resident angels should be on the lookout, as they are now at risk of being hit by flying paper wrappers.
There are no words to express how grateful we are to Bob’s caregivers for their dedication, kindness, and compassion over the past few years. You have been a blessing to our family. Thank you so much!
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org), a cause that was very near and dear to Bob’s heart.
