AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Roger Joseph Larue Jr.

5 avril 1947 – 8 février 2025
Avis de décès de Roger Joseph Larue Jr.
AUX SOINS DE

Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Roger (Rog) Joseph Larue Jr. passed away on February 8, 2025 at the age of 77. He spent his final weeks surrounded in love by his family.

Rog will be remembered for his wit, intelligence, lively yet questionable fashion choices, love of terrible tv shows (on mute), affinity for late night ice cream, hatred of cucumbers, his green thumb in the garden, confidence that he could fix anything with duck tape and zip ties, the joy he got out of illegally parking, and his love for embarrassing his children, words he wore proudly on his favorite t-shirt.

Lovable quirks aside, Rog will be remembered most for his huge heart, and the deep, unconditional love he had for his family and friends. He didn't let everyone into his inner circle, but those he did felt his love. If you were fortunate enough to be teased relentlessly or receive an exaggerated eye roll from Rog, you were definitely one of his favorites.

Rog is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet, his three children, Chris (Konni), Dave (Tina) and Marie (JD), and his seven grandchildren, Gabe, Cage, Colby, Ava, Brayden, Ramey and Jack. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Fuqua, father, Roger Joseph Larue Sr. and his sister, Anna Marie.

Rog was born on April 5, 1947 in New Orleans, La. He attended Jesuit High School followed by Loyola University, where he met the love of his life, Janet Bailes. He went on to pursue Law School and opened his private practice on Metairie Rd. He later went on to receive his MBA from Tulane University, and served as an adjunct professor at Tulane Law School on negotiation and mediation advocacy skills, a job that he had a true passion for. In 1987, Rog, along with his partners, opened MAPS, a mediation, arbitration and lien resolution services firm based in Metairie. MAPS was Rog's home away from home. He loved going to the office and had a community there that quickly became family and remained that way, even in retirement.

Jan and Rog raised their 3 kids on Metairie Ct. Their neighbors were family and many of Rog's favorite memories occurred right in their front yard. From block parties to birthday celebrations to nightly porch chats with friends, Rog and Jan built a beautiful life for their family on this street, a life they were able to later share with their grandchildren when they visited often.

Rog loved spending his free time taking his family to their vacation house in Dauphin island and later Pass Christian. He got great joy being out on the water in his boat, often fishing and towing the kids and their friends in inner-tubes and laughing as he tossed them off.

In 2018, Rog and Jan retired to New Smyrna Beach, Florida to be closer to family. Here, they joined the Smyrna Yacht Club and made a new community of amazing friends. They found great joy in fishing and boating and their boating captains and community became instant members of the Larue Krewe.

Rog lead by his faith, loved with his whole heart, and was authentically himself until the end.

A private burial will be held in Florida. A Memorial Service will be held in New Orleans at a future date.
