ROGER ELMER NICKEL, was born on February 24, 1937, in Carleton, Nebraska. He died on December 2, 2010 at Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida. Roger left Nebraska in 1969 to work on the Apollo program at Kennedy Space Center. In 1997, Roger retired from Walt Disney World after 26 years of service. He earned numerous service awards while employed at Walt Disney World. Roger loved his family, traveling with his wife, Sharon, building remote control airplanes, and spending time with friends. Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Penny. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; daughter, Candi (David) Polhill; and granddaughters, Jenna Henderson and Kaley Polhill. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5th at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 3437. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Mike Conley Hospice House or American Cancer Society.
