Ronnie was born on April 5, 1959 as a second generation Orlando-born son of Gerald Edgar and the late Winnie Edgar. He met his beloved wife, Nancy Lee Edgar, when they were just 19 years old, through a friend-of-a-friend one day at the beach. The two of them created a scuba-diving legacy, adventuring on their honeymoon, and passing on their joys of all things outdoors and adventure related, to their future kids as they grew.
Ronnie was a trailblazer; with the loss of his dear mother at a young age, Ronnie grew quickly into manhood. He took the opportunity to buy his own business at 19 years old from the owners of the auto paint & body shop where he was working and created Ron’s Paint & Body Shop. He was competitive, and a problem solver – but not just for himself; he helped people he loved, while steering everyone toward a good time.
He grew up a man deeply connected to the Florida landscape with his many childhood friends that remained lifelong friends. In 1991 Ronnie and Nancy’s dream became a reality when they purchased five acres of property where they raised their children to enjoy the simplicity of cultivating homegrown chickens, cows, vegetable gardens, and livestock.
In almost any conversation Ronnie found a way to highlight his family of which he was so proud of. Ronnie was a talented painter, a true artist that brought his custom flair far beyond the beautiful automotive work he did. “Nothing is standard,” his affectionate family dotes. He soon converged with Walt Disney World, the perfect partner in creativity, and worked with them for 30 years. Ronnie himself was a master storyteller who would share his adventures with more delightful details with every telling.
Ronnie also loved to talk about his Lord. He enjoyed sharing the way Jesus blessed his life. And, if you would look for Ronnie in his sanctuary, you would find him in the wilderness. He was a hunter at heart, and built a family cabin in North Florida along the Ichetucknee River where the white-tailed deer roam.
Ronnie loved taking his family on all of his adventures; from hunting to surfing to sharing his passion for music. For his sixtieth birthday Nancy, his bride of 38 years sent him hang-gliding, where his passion for adventure amplified.
His family will never forget the plentiful, rich moments they experienced with their Dad/husband. They already miss him so much but know they must keep his spirit alive by staying strong together.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Winnie Edgar and his uncle Willie Edgar.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Edgar; children, Aaron Edgar, Ryan Edgar (Lisa) and Nicole Edgar; grandchildren, Cameron, Kallen and Reed Edgar; father, Gerald Edgar; siblings, Jerry Edgar, Randy Edgar, Mike Edgar, Tina Pettis and Brian Edgar; and, Aunt Mattie Goodman.
A Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida, 34734.
