Rose Cherchie Merola

Rose Cherchie Merola, age 87 of Orlando, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born on April 19, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles and Mary (Zupo) Cherchie. She was one of 3 children, all girls, born into this family. Rose as a dedicated homemaker and her family was the highlight of her life. She also was very active in St. Saviour's Parish in Brooklyn, New York before coming to Florida. Rose enjoyed playling bingo, the lotto but her real joy was caring for her family. She loved to cook, especially Italian food, and her meatballs were legendary. Spaghetti and meatballs and cauliflower pancakes were some of the foods that will always be remembered. She was married for 33 years to her beloved husband, Augustine Merola, who preceded her in deeath. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Saracio and her son-in-law, Daniel P. Moogan Jr.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Marie Moogan; her sister, Marie Paolini; her grandsons: Daniel P. Moogan III and Brian J. Moogan and his wife Ashley and her great grandson, Maximus Moogan, also known to the family as Max.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 10 - 11 AM at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11 AM Monday at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, Florida.
