Sentilia Cynthia "Ms.Cicely" Noel

Sentilia Cynthia Noel (also known as Ms. Cicely) was born on November 1, 1927 to Adolfos Thomas and Lena Richard. She was one of seven children. She was a native of Willis, a small village in St George’s ,Grenada West Indies.

At the age of thirty-one, Ms Cicely married Ambrose Noel of River Road, St George’s Grenada. This union brought forth 3 children, Augustine Noel, Francis Noel,and Cherrilann Noel. Ambrose was an extraordinary stepfather to Ms Cicely’s older children as well Catherine Purcell-Williams, Peter Thomas, and Lindsay Noel.

Ms Cicely was a Government employee, employed at various institutions. In February, 1961, she was a caretaker of children at Richman Hill Home Sanitarium. In January of 1968, Ms Cicely was employed as a Government Laundry Attendant at Dabo, located in Queens Park. And, in January of 1975, she became employed as a cook at Grenada’s General Hospital. She worked hard to provide for her family and taught her 6 children to do the same.

In 1979 when Grenada experienced a bloodless coup, Ms Cicely planned her retirement. Shortly thereafter, she migrated to Brooklyn, New York. She resided there until she purchased her first home in Orlando, Florida.

Ms. Cicely was selfless for even after she retired, she continued her passion of being a caretaker for children both in Brooklyn and Orlando.

Everyone who entered her home was loved, cared for, and fed.

She lived to see many generations. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 18 great grand children, and 7 great great grandchildren.

She lived for ninety-six years. We all have fond memories.

Mommy, Grandma, Ma, Ms Noel, Ms. Cicely…you are absent in the body yet present in the Lord.

A visitation for Sentilia will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A committal service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 12:30 PM at Orlando Memorial Gardens, 5264 Ingram Road, Apopka, FL 32703.
