Shirley J. Flaherty

My loving mother, Shirley, went with Gods Angels on the evening of April 6. She always had a smile on her face and a hug for everyone in good and bad times. Her grandchildren, cats, birds and dogs were her passion.

She married my Dad on 9/8/32 and they enjoyed many years together until his passing in 2010. In 1955 they had a bundle of joy (to be determined) name Patricia Flaherty. My mother showed kindness and unconditional love as I grew up and became my greatest friend and supporter.

She was born in Chicago to Lorena and John Owen, had a sister Louise Ricker, and a bother Ernie Bayne. There are two granddaughters, Jennifer Smith (Gordon), Maria Rex (William) plus; 4 great grandchildren, Michael Smith, Trent Rex, Rachel Rex and Sami Smith.

Mom enjoyed life and achieved a multitude of activities. Cheer Leader, Military Cadet, secretary, multiple business owner, highly regarded aviary breeder and show manager; less we forget the wonderful cook she was. However, her greatest gift was the love she shared with everyone.

Momma my heart reaches out to you and I weep not just for the emptiness of you being gone but for the happiness and health I know you have found with the Lord God. There is a saying that only a child hears the heart of its mother from inside and out until the time comes to leave. In the darkest times I listen and hear. I love you Mom. ❤️🌹
