Howard, Sonya Alderman, age 77, passed away in her home on February 17 of pulmonary fibrosis. An Orlando native, she was Supervisor of the Orange County Traffic Court until her retirement in 2000. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends, her horses and cats, fishing in Steinhatchie, the great outdoors, and all of God’s creatures. As season ticket holders, she and daughter Jodie attended most of the Orlando Magic’s home games; she also loved watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR events.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Pete Alderman of Orlando. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie Lynn Thomas (Eddie) of Orlando; sisters Pepper Ausley (Buz) of Orlando and Annette Armstrong (Jim) of Savannah, GA; granddaughters Carol Thomas and Brooke Cornish, both of Orlando; great granddaughters Kayla, Arabelle, and Cheyene, all of Orlando.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ASPCA or the Salvation Army.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home on Saturday, February 20th, at 2:00PM, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00PM at the same location and date.
