Suzanne (Spooner) Maphis, 49, of Windermere, passed from this world on May 25, 2021, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Connellsville, PA, on July 9, 1971, and grew up in Coral Springs, FL. She attended Coral Springs High School and went on to graduate from the University of Florida in 1993, where she met her husband, Rob. The two married on March 18, 1995, and resided in Coconut Creek and Wellington before settling in Windermere. Suzanne accomplished her dream of raising a family and was able to do what she wanted to do most, which was to travel the world with her family, even after her cancer diagnosis in 2018.
She was very active in her daughters' schools, both Lake Whitney Elementary and Holy Family Catholic. Suzanne worked selflessly to help lead Holy Family's 'Raising the Dough' fundraising campaign for many years. Suzanne is survived by her husband, Rob; her daughters Brianna, Alexa and Ava; her parents, Carol and Ray Spooner; her sister, Michelle Maddux and husband, Derek, and their three children: Kaitlyn, Colton and Kylie.
Suzanne's life will be celebrated through the three rites of the Catholic funeral: the Vigil Service (wake), the Mass of Christian Burial and the Committal at the cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 31 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd., Gotha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Orlando. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to PanCAN on Suzanne’s behalf at https://bit.ly/3fONIY8. To share a message of sympathy with her family, visit www.woodlawnfuneralhomegotha.com or Rob's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/rob.maphis/posts/4540157829331643.
