

Tracy Roland Mixon passed peacefully from this life the morning of July 6, 2012, in Rockledge, FL at the age of 82 after a gradual decline in health from Parkinson’s disease. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and Wuesthoff Hospice caregivers during the last days of his life.
Tracy was a dedicated and loving husband and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Illene Stoddard Mixon. The son of the late Theodore R. Mixon and Clarice Gates Mixon, Tracy was born in Pensacola, FL and settled in Central Florida in 1971. A U.S. naval officer, who worked his way up the ranks from Seaman to Commander, Tracy retired in 1975 after 28 years of service. His naval career as an electronics technician and an electronics materiel officer included service at numerous duty stations in the US and a two-year assignment in Taiwan. Tracy was an enthusiastic volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America, serving in a leadership role for many years in California and Florida. An active member of Northside Presbyterian Church in Melbourne, FL, Tracy could often be found working on construction projects around the church. He enjoyed reading scripture and westerns, was an avid fisherman, hunter, and a handyman who could build or fix just about anything, and who dedicated many years as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer.
In addition to his wife, Tracy is survived by two sons, David R. Mixon and his wife Mary H. Mixon of New Freedom, PA, and Ted R. Mixon and his wife Vickie Hicks of Charlottesville, VA; and a daughter, Pamela H. Smith, and her husband Charles M. (Monty) Smith of Coral Springs, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Nelson Mixon and his wife Sonja Mixon of Cocoa Beach, FL, and his sister Roberta Hinote and her husband Fletcher Hinote of Cantonment, FL. His legacy includes 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, FL. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Northside Presbyterian Church, 1400 Lake Washington Rd., Melbourne, FL 32935. Pastor Jeff Godwin will officiate the service, and friends and family are cordially invited to attend.
