
HENSLEY, Virginia, age 90, died on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at home in the care of her family. Virginia had been ill since a fall and surgery in May of 2010. Virginia was born into the Bordynowski family in DuBois, PA, on April 6, 1921.
She grew up on a farm surrounded by a loving family of 5 sisters and 3 brothers, all of whom predeceased her. After working in the factories during World War II, she bought a new car and travelled around the U.S. as a waitress. She ended up in Florida and fell in love with the state. She married her husband Charles and settled in Miami Beach where both of her children were born. After she and Charles separated in 1961, she moved to Chicago to raise her children and worked at George Diamonds Steakhouse. In 1969, she returned to her beloved Florida and bought a home in Orlando. She was hired as a server at Gary’s Duck Inn where she worked for the next 20 years. After her son Charles died in 1987 Virginia retired in 1988. She enjoyed her retirement helping to raise her grandsons and working in her yard and garden with her much loved plants and flowers.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Kathleen Bennett, her son-in-law Richard Bennett, and her grandsons Richard Lee Bennett and Daniel Charles Bennett. She was also a stepmother to Andrew Hensley and Kenneth Hensley. Her stepdaughter Janet Mead died in 2006. Virginia is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 25th, 2011, officiated by Father Miguel at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6200 S. Orange Blossom Trl, Orlando, FL 32809, preceded by a closed casket visitation beginning at 12:00 pm at the church. A private interment will follow immediately.
