Barbara A. Fisher, age 85 of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully at her home the morning of Thursday, October 13, 2016, after a long and arduous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Barbara was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 9, 1931 to parents Clemence and Olive Laubheimer. Barbara, the youngest of four daughters, graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1949. She married Lowell E. Fisher in 1950 at Saint Agnus Catholic Church in Flint. They had four boys and lived in the Flint and Grand Blanc areas their entire adult lives except for a brief time in Battle Creek, Michigan. They had 66 loving years together and she passed away holding his hand, the one man she repeatedly told with affection, “You will always be my guy.” Barbara was very active as a hospital volunteer for many years at McLaren General in Flint, serving on the Auxiliary Board in every capacity including president of the East Central District of the Michigan Association of Hospital Auxiliaries (MAHA) and later served on the state board. Barbara loved animals and enjoyed her many years of working at the Grand Blanc Veterinary Hospital. When healthy, she and her husband loved to travel creating and sharing fond memories of faraway places. Barbara and her husband throughout their lives enjoyed many social clubs with their favorites being associated with different styles of dancing like “club Clarendon”. After retirement, they would meet with their closest friends once a month for a night out they called “club Tuesday” which still gets together for those souls that are left. Barbara’s main passion was her family. She was a loving, devoted and proud wife, mother, and grandmother. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, husband Lowell; three sons: Richard “Doug”, James, and Gregory; three grandchildren: Alana, Derrick, and Max; sister, Lillian Oman; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving son, John; two sisters, and one niece. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service to celebrate her life will be held. The family would like to thank the staff of the Medical Team Hospice for their compassion and care of Barbara during the most difficult of times. She will be forever loved and missed. Arrangements under the direction of Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
