Beatrice Mary (Luchenbill) (Mann) Richardson of Grand Blanc Township went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, at 2:35 pm with her daughters by her side. She was 105 years old. Mary was the third of ten children born to Francis and Floyella Luchenbill.
Mary wed Donald Earl Mann on March 21, 1936. Together they had four children: Donald E. (Betty) Mann, Jr., Loretta (Ken) MacGillivray, Jenny (Elmo) Davis, and Kathleen (Jerry) Panter. Don predeceased Mary in 1975, and seven years later she wed Melvin Richardson. Mary and Mel enjoyed their retirement years together until Mel passed away in March 2005. Mary lived to love and enjoy 14 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandson.
Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Don and Mel; two sisters, Martha and Leota; four brothers, Ford, Roy, Philip, and Max; her son, Donald Jr.; her sons-in-law, Elmo, Jerry, and Ken. Three siblings, Foster, Natalie, and Leona, three daughters, and her many descendants survive to carry on her legacy.
Mary worked at AC Sparkplugs in Flint, MI for 35 years, retiring in 1980. When she was 100 years old, she participated in her local union’s Christmas gathering. Although she worked hard, Mary enjoyed her hobbies. She loved to knit and crochet. She made many afghans, sweaters, vests, and house decorations for her family. She liked to read, work crossword puzzles and, after she retired, golf.
Most of all, Mary loved her family in countless ways. To the end of her life, she insisted on recognizing family birthdays, giving Christmas gifts, and being part of our many family events.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, nurse Kim, Julie, and Joyce for their compassionate care of Mary and encouragement of the family. A special thank you to granddaughters Pam Hudson and Cheryl Fabian for their loving and constant help. Without them, Mary could not have lived at home through her final days.
Mary’s final arrangements have been entrusted to Hill Funeral Home (11723 S. Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, MI). Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm at Hill Funeral Home. Mary’s celebration of life will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ken MacGillivray (her grandson) officiating.
