Carol Lynn Schillinger

Carol was born on October 25, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to Russell and Ruth (Woodward) Carle. She grew up in Oak Park, MI on Kipling Ave and graduated from Oak Park High School. Carol worked for 30 years for GM as a test driver and a member of the UAW. Carol was especially proud of evaluating new cars for fit and finish and of her time testing the new “On-star” system during roads trips and cold testing up to GM's Kapuskasing, Ontario facility. She would often tell of the time Bob Lutz flew over in his private jet and buzzed the proving grounds. While working as a test driver at the GM Milford Proving Grounds, she met her husband, Ralph. He was her loving husband and life partner for 36 years until his death.  They enjoyed hunting and camping together and spending time with their Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, gardening, cross country skiing and raising Morgan horses in her younger years from which she passed on the passion to her daughter Sandra.

Carol is survived by her son Michael L. (Amanda) Felker of Fenton, her sister Sandra (Jerry) Becker of Capac, also her children: Lloyd (Maria) Schillinger, Merrilee (Cory) Yax, Andrea (Kristian) Ford, Matthew (Angelina) Schillinger, her grandchildren: Rebekka (Scott) Oyen, Michael (Joan) Felker, Maizie Faber, Adam Schillinger, Hayden Yax, Wilson Yax, Emily Schillinger, Oscar Gutierrez, Dwayne Conway, Amanda Conway, and Brianna Hitch. Great grandma of ten but “Nana” had a special bond with her Great-granddaughter Avayah Oyen. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many extended family members from “Faith Christian Family Church” in Lapeer where she was an active member.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Ralph C. Schillinger Jr, her parents; Russell and Ruth Carle; her in-laws, Ralph, Sr. and Thelma (nee Easton) Schillinger; her brother, Rusty Carle, and her beloved daughter, Sandra (Keaton) Stearns.

Memorial contributions may be made to “Faith Christian Family Church” ‘In lieu of flowers.’

A celebration of Carol’s life will take place at the Wyndham Hotel 5353 Gateway Center Blvd, after inurnment on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Michigan.
